General Information
What types of courts do you build?
We specialize in high-performance athletic surfaces for both residential and commercial properties. Our expertise covers the design and installation of professional-grade basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts, as well as Padel courts, multi-sport game courts, premium artificial turf, and custom putting greens. Not only do we build post tension courts with acrylic surfacing, as Arizona’s exclusive licensed provider of Sport Court® modular flooring, we provide our clients with an elite level of performance and protection that is unique to our licensed systems.
Can I customize the look of my court?
Absolutely. We offer a wide range of color combinations, custom logos, and specialized striping. Whether you want your court to provide a pop of color, to match your favorite professional team’s colors or to blend into your backyard landscaping, we can make it happen.
Construction & Installation
What is the typical timeline for a court installation?
While every project is unique, most full game court builds follow a standard timeline of 6 to 8 weeks. This accounts for site preparation, concrete curing (which usually takes 30 days), final surfacing and equipment installation.
If you already have concrete and are just adding tile, the time frame is typically 4-6 weeks from order to installation. This allows time for our team to create a custom court for you from start to finish!
Do I need a permit for a backyard court?
Permit requirements vary significantly by city and HOA regulations. We recommend checking with your local building department. Our team is happy to provide the necessary technical drawings and site plans to assist you in the approval process.
What kind of base do you use?
For longevity and performance, we offer reinforced concrete for modular courts and post-tensioned concrete for our acrylic courts. These options provide the most stable foundation for your court.
Can I install Sport Court® modular tile over my existing concrete court or slab?
Yes. Sport Court® modular surfaces are an attractive, cost-effective, and safer option to update your existing concrete court.
Surface Technology & Safety
What makes your modular surfacing different from standard concrete?
How do the courts handle heat and weather?
Our Sport Court® surfaces are engineered with UV stabilizers to help protect against fading under the intense sun. Because of the open grid pattern of our modular tiles, these courts typically dry much faster than traditional solid surfaces by allowing for rapid drainage after rain. This specialized design also requires less maintenance, ensuring your court remains ready for play year-round.
Maintenance & Longevity
How do I clean my court?
Maintenance is surprisingly simple. For outdoor courts, a leaf blower and a garden hose easily remove debris. For a deeper clean, a mild non-acidic detergent and a soft-bristle broom will do the trick.
Does Court Builders of Arizona offer professional maintenance?
Yes! We don’t just build your court and disappear. We offer professional maintenance services to keep your court in peak condition. For our Sport Court® modular systems, we go beyond surface cleaning by lifting the tiles to remove debris from underneath, then pressure washing the tile surface.
We also provide professional jet broom cleaning for our acrylic courts. Our team also inspects and replaces court components as needed to ensure your space remains safe and high-performing for years to come.
How long will my court last?
Our courts are built for generations of play. In fact, we have customers still playing on courts we built in the 1970s!
Sport Court® modular flooring is backed by warranties starting at 15 years, though many of our clients enjoy their courts for much longer. Because our modular tiles are easily replaceable if a specific section is damaged, your investment is designed to stand the test of time.
For our acrylic surfaces, we recommend a professional resurfacing every 5–8 years to maintain peak performance and color vibrancy.
Can I use my court for things other than sports?
Yes! Our surfaces are durable enough to handle patio furniture, social gatherings, and even some light wheeled activities like rollerblading (depending on the specific surface chosen). We do recommend avoiding high-point loads like heavy machinery or sharp metal legs.
Costs & Budgeting
How much does a custom court cost?
Pricing depends on the size of the court, the site’s current topography, and chosen accessories (lighting, fencing, hoops). We provide free, no-obligation site assessments to give you a transparent, line-item quote.
