Since 1978, our team has been dedicated to delivering high-quality court construction, innovative solutions, and outstanding service to commercial and residential clients throughout Arizona. This nearly 50-year history forms the foundation of Court Builders of Arizona.
From the NBA Court to the Backyard Court
Our story begins with founder Jim Fox. After retiring from a 10-year career in the NBA, which included playing Center for the Phoenix Suns, Jim traded playing on professional courts for the craft of building them. He established our family-owned business with a commitment to local service and unparalleled construction quality.
Under Jim’s leadership, our company quickly became recognized as Arizona’s premier court builder, leading the way in game court development, outdoor recreation design, and performance surfacing.
A Legacy Built by Family
Jim’s sons, Mike and Jimmy, grew up immersed in the court construction business. They learned the trade from scratch, starting by working with their father as teenagers. After graduating from college, Mike and Jimmy joined the company full-time and have successfully run the business together since Jim’s retirement in 2010.
Under their guidance, the Court Builders of Arizona team has built thousands of game courts for residential and commercial clients, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Phoenix Suns. We are known for our turn-key construction process, which guarantees a high-quality, professional result and a positive client experience from start to finish.

Our passion goes beyond pouring concrete and applying surfaces. It’s about creating beautiful, fun spaces where people of all ages can be active and connect. Whether the court is designed for serious tennis, competitive pickleball, or a multi-sport space for family fun, where basketball, roller hockey, or pickleball can be played on the same court.
We specialize in designing and building courts that utilize materials best suited for the user and the harsh Arizona climate. From durable, low-maintenance modular surfaces to traditional, high-performance acrylic finishes, we provide elegant alternatives to generic paved areas. Not only do we provide turn-key building options, but we also use Sport Court’s modular surfaces to transform existing courts to make them safer, longer-lasting, and beautiful.
